AM stations in Baraboo and Wausau are now identifying by FM frequencies after signing on new FM translators as a result of the FCC’s AM revitalization filing window.
In Wausau, Sunrise Broadcasting’s W258DK/98.9 is now on the air relaying the Sports format of WXCO/1230. It transmits with 235W from a tower near Rothschild.
The “Sports Fan” format moved from WDTX/100.5 (Rothschild-Wausau) when that station switched to Adult Contemporary late last year as WAVL. WXCO and W258DK are now identifying as “Sports Fan 98.9.”
The station posted a gallery of photos of the FM antenna installation on its website, and 98.9 signed on in late June:
Elsewhere, Magnum.Media has signed on W247CY/97.3 (Baraboo), relaying WRDB/1400 (Reedsburg). The 250-Watt signal transmits from a site midway between the two cities, with Wisconsin Dells also within its coverage area.
WRDB’s format remains Oldies but it’s now identifying as “97-3 RDB.”
