In a move that bucks the industry trend of adding newscasts, Tegna NBC affiliate KARE 11 (Minneapolis) has dropped its half-hour newscast at 11 a.m.
TV listings indicate KARE is now airing Rachael Ray at 11 a.m. The new Drew Barrymore Show now runs in Rachael Ray’s former 1 p.m. timeslot. Both are syndicated shows.
The 11 a.m. newscast had launched as an hour-long show in 2011. It competed with Hubbard ABC affiliate KSTP’s longtime “Eyewitness News Midday” and FOX O&O KMSP’s “FOX 9 News at 11,” both of which are an hour long.
KARE continues to run five hours of local news per day in morning, late afternoon, and evening timeslots.
