The following are updates to stories previously reported here and smaller recent FCC filings and actions that do not merit a full story of their own at this time:
Minnesota
Hubbard ABC affiliate KSTP-TV/5.1 (St. Paul) requested program test authority. The station has a construction permit to upgrade from 755kW to 1,000kW on its current RF channel, 35.
Analog low-power TV station WCMN-LP/13 (St. Cloud) was granted a construction permit to convert to digital operations on channel 14.
iHeartMedia formally consummated its purchase of KSNR/100.3 (Fisher, MN-Grand Forks) from the Sun and Snow Station Trust.
Nebraska
The University of Nebraska says contractors have not solidified dates for construction to replace the tower and cabling of KRNU-FM/90.3 (Lincoln). The station has been operating at about 30% of its licensed 100 Watts at times since September 2019 due to water and ice issues in the transmission cable. It requested an extension of special temporary authority to operate at reduced power.
South Dakota
The April 1 deadline for Juan Diego Radio’s KSTJ-LP/104.3 (Sioux Falls) to file for license renewal has passed with no activity from the station appearing in the FCC database. The database is now listing the station as “license cancelled” with a D in front of its callsign, indicating the station has been deleted. KSTJ-LP had carried the Real Presence Radio Network prior to the network’s purchase of a full-power station in the city. The FCC approved Gray Ghost Broadcasting’s purchase of KQKD/1380 and K260DG/99.9 (Redfield) from i3G Radio. The deal has not yet closed.
Analog low-power TV station KWBH-LP/27 (Rapid City) reported that it left the air on March 22 due to antenna issues. The station has a construction permit to flash-cut to digital broadcasting.
Wisconsin
The FCC approved the sale of WFHR/1320 (Wisconsin Rapids) and WLJY/105.5 (Nekoosa-Wisconsin Rapids) from Seehafer Broadcasting to Heart of Wisconsin Media. The deal has not yet closed.
