Free local TV streaming service Locast has launched in Milwaukee, its 36th market nationwide.
The service includes more than 40 channels, including major network affiliates. The Milwaukee lineup is available from Kenosha to Sheboygan.
Locast does not have permission to redistribute the stations’ signals and does not compensate them. As a non-profit, Locast citesĀ a provision in the 1976 Copyright Act allowing TV translators to rebroadcast programming without consent, an argument which has been facing an ongoing court battle for two years.
The service is free of charge but viewers who do not make a donation receive regular fundraising interruptions.
Locast is also available in the Chicago, Madison, Minneapolis, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Rapid City, and Denver.
