Fargo radio veteran Bonnie Amistadi has joined WDAY/970 and will host a morning news show on the station starting Thursday, Sept. 16.
Amistadi had worked for KFGO/790 since 1991. WDAY first announced the hiring of Amistadi on Sept. 2 and confirmed on Sept. 10 that she will host morning drive, the same shift she had co-hosted on at KFGO.
Amistadi discussed her move with WDAY’s Jay Thomas on Sept. 2, calling it a “big, big, big decision” that caused anxiety for several weeks.
WDAY’s “Bonnie and Friends,” airing from 5 to 8:30 a.m., will be co-hosted by Steve Hallstrom, Flag Family Media President and Managing Partner.
Flag Family owns Conservative Talker “AM 1100 The Flag” (WZFG Dilworth-Fargo) and other stations and operates WDAY, which carries a less political News/Talk format, through an agreement with licensee Forum Communications.
The new WDAY morning show will replace the syndicated America in the Morning in the 5 a.m. hour and a simulcast of WZFG’s morning show from 6 to 8:30. WDAY is rebroadcast on K226CL/93.1.
WDAY’s lineup is live and local from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a lineup focusing on news and weather. The schedule includes Paul Bougie and Janae White from 8:30 to 11 a.m., Kyle Cornell and Allye Doyle from 11 to 2, and Jay Thomas from 2 to 5. It continues to simulcast WDAY-TV’s local newscasts at 5 and 6 p.m. and ABC’s World News Tonight at 5:30 p.m.
