KGLE/590 (Glendive, MT) is due to begin carrying different Christian programming as the station is sold to Hi-Line Radio Fellowship, which operates “Your Network of Praise.”
Hi-Line is buying KGLE from the listener-owned Friends of Christian Radio, which has owned the station since 1993, for $1.
The network includes dozens of stations in Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah, mostly on FM. KGLE’s signal covers much of eastern North Dakota, using 1kW day and 111 Watts night non-directional.
“We’re looking forward to that because…that signal already has quite a few listeners and it covers a large area of eastern Montana and western North Dakota where Your Network of Praise is not heard,” Network General Manager Roger Lonnquist said in his Oct. 11 network update.
Lonnquist said they were still waiting for a shipment of equipment needed for KGLE to begin carrying YNOP programming. A time brokerage agreement filed with the FCC says YNOP can begin programming the station as soon as Saturday, Oct. 16.
KGLE and YNOP already carry many of the same teaching and preaching programs. Friends of Christian Radio President Duane Domek said in a September audio message that KGLE will carry different programming than the main YNOP network from 2 to 4 p.m. and will possibly carry local weather and announcements during the network morning show.
Meanwhile, Lonnquist said the network is also planning to apply for FM signals in Glendive and Big Timber in the November filing window for new stations in the 88-92 MHz band.
KGLE has been on the air since 1962.
The station is giving away its remaining promotional items and materials from program providers.
