New FM Signals in Rochester, Sioux Falls, West-Central Minnesota

Posted on May 24, 2019 by Jon Ellis

New 250-Watt FM signals are on the air on Rochester, Sioux Falls, and Glenwood, Minnesota. The translators were granted during the FCC’s AM Revitalization filing windows:

iHeartMedia signed on K228FY/93.5 (Rochester), relaying “The Fan” Sports format from KFAN/1270. The FM signal began broadcasting in late April.

K228FY’s sign-on comes about a month after Townsquare Media News/Talker KROC/1340 (Rochester) signed on K245CX/96.9. A listener sent in this audio of the K245CX sign-on that wasn’t previously posted here:

KNWC/1270 (Sioux Falls) is now being rebroadcast on K298CY/107.5. The University of Northwestern-St. Paul stations carry the Faith Radio network of Christian Talk programming.

K289CL/105.7 (Glenwood, MN) is on the air relaying the News/Talk format of KXRA/1490 (Alexandria). KXRA is also relayed on K262AT/100.3 (Alexandria), which was earlier purchased from another broadcaster. The Glenwood translator extends KXRA’s FM availability southward.

Station owner Brett Paradis spoke about the new signal in a conversation posted on the station website.
