Great Lakes Radio’s two remaining stations in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are being sold to a local owner.
Munising-based Roam Media has announced plans to buy WQXO/1400 (Munising), WQXO translator W249DR/97.7 (Munising), and WRPP/92.7 (Manistique) from Great Lakes Radio. The purchase price has not yet been disclosed.
A Facebook post says Casey Ford will serve as general manager of the stations.
Roam Media, owned by Tom Dolaskie, holds no other radio stations, but Dolaskie does have existing businesses in the area. A press release states that the radio stations will move into one of Dolaskie’s businesses in downtown Munising, and that his company will begin operating the stations under a time brokerage agreement on August 1.
WQXO currently carries a Classic Hits format and WRPP carries a Classic Rock format in a simulcast with WRUP/98.3 (Palmer-Marquette); WRUP is among the stations Great Lakes Radio is in the process of selling to MediaBrew Communications Marquette.
Great Lakes Radio is owned by Todd Stuart Noordyk, whose family’s only remaining broadcast holdings will be two non-commercial Christian radio stations.
