Nebraska broadcaster Flood Broadcasting is expanding to the panhandle with the purchase of Sidney’s two radio stations.
Flood announced the purchase from Susan and James Ernest’s Dead-Short Broadcasting on Tuesday. Susan Ernest’s family has operated KSID AM-FM for decades.
KSID-FM/98.7 carries Adult Contemporary as “Sky FM” while KSID/1340 and K239BE/95.7 carry Country as “The Fort.”
The purchase price is $300,000, according to an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC. The deal also includes translators in Gurley, NE, and Sterling, CO.
“The station has enjoyed a great home in Sidney and that won’t change. We will continue to fulfill an important role in the community, covering news that impacts Sidney and its surrounding areas,” Mike Flood said in a news release.
Flood owns eight other radio stations and a series of low-power TV stations carrying Flood’s “NewsChannel Nebraska” and Telemundo. The announcement said KSID will be a bureau for the network.
