An AM station southwest of Des Moines has flipped to Classic Hits with the launch of a new FM translator.
KSIB/1520 and K271CT/102.1 (Creston) are now “Kool 102” and streaming on the station’s website. The AM station had previously carried Sports Talk.
DX’ers had reported hearing “Kool 102” on AM 1520 last month, and KSIB’s website reports the 250-Watt FM signal officially launched in the late evening of Wednesday, Jan. 15. The report was first noted by RadioInsight.
The station says “Kool 102” will carry Creston High School football games next season, freeing up the larger signal of KSIB-FM/101.3 to carry other regional teams. KSIB-FM carries a Country format with a large amount of local news and talk
KSIB/1520 is a 1kW daytimer, while KSIB-FM is 19kW/111m (class C3).
The stations are owned by Chad and Amy Rieck’s G.O. Radio.
