Entercom’s “Mix 105.1” (WMHX Waunakee-Madison) was the first station to flip to All-Christmas for the second year in a row, with several more stations making the change a few days later.
NorthPine.com is now in its 20th season of tracking the seasonal flips right here.
WMHX made the seasonal change on Friday, Oct. 30, one day earlier than last year. They even got Pat Monahan from Train to voice the switchover:
Elsewhere, Magnum Media made its first foray into All-Christmas formats, flipping two of its newly-acquired stations to the seasonal format on Sunday, Nov. 1. Dave Magnum voiced the Christmas imaging for La Crosse’s “Magic 97.9” (K250AZ La Crosse and WKBH-FM-HD2 La Crescent) and WSJY/107.3 (Fort Atkinson):
WSJY’s flip was 27 days earlier than last year’s changeover under its previous ownership.
In Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, a new format on the stations that used to carry the seasonal “Gift” format didn’t prevent the Christmas music from returning. Mediabrew Communications’ “106.1 The Sound” (W291CJ and WFXD-HD4 Marquette) flipped on Nov. 1.
A few more flips are being promoted elsewhere:
- Paskvan Media’s “1300/94.3 The Legends” (KPMI and W232DS Bemidji) will flip on Monday, Nov. 2.
- iHeartMedia’s “Mix 96” (KMXG Clinton-Quad Cities) is counting down to a flip on Friday, Nov. 6.
- iHeartMedia’s “Mix 99.9” (KMXA-FM Minot) is running a contest for listeners to guess when they will make the flip.
