A fundraiser is scheduled later this month for the family of Doug Rogers, a Shawano radio host who died in January after 42-year career in the business.
Rogers, 61, was most recently the morning host at WTCH/960 (Shawano) but had to leave work last July and went to the emergency room. He was diagnosed with cancer.
He received a citation from the Wisconsin State Legislature on Jan. 28, two days before his death, recognizing his decades on the air and contribution to the betterment of the State of Wisconsin.
Rogers worked at stations in Merrill and New London before moving to Wyoming, where he met his wife Victoria on the air. They moved back to Rogers’ hometown of Clintonville in 1991, where he worked at WJMQ/92.3 before moving to WTCH. (Link: full obituary)
A benefit to offset the financial burden is scheduled for Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at Shawano Lake Golf Course in Shawano. Donations are also being accepted at Results Broadcasting and Covantage Credit Union in Shawano.
