New FM’s: Suburban Milwaukee, Oshkosh, Langdon, and Marshalltown

Posted on March 24, 2021 by Jon Ellis

Several more new FM signals have recently signed on as the deadlines approach to construct FM translators granted in 2018 as part of the AM revitalization effort.

In suburban Milwaukee, Catholic broadcaster Relevant Radio has applied for a license to cover for W260DP/99.9 (Pewaukee), a filing which indicates the new station is either on the air or will be soon. W260DP broadcasts with 250 Watts from the WSJP/1640 (Sussex) tower in Pewaukee, relaying WSJP.

W260DP’s main coverage area includes parts of Brookfield, Menomonee Falls, and Waukesha, with fringe coverage of Milwaukee itself. It’s adjacent on the dial to Relevant Radio’s WSJP-FM/100.1 (Port Washington), which serves the northern Milwaukee metro area.

Also in Wisconsin, as first noted in the FCC Monitor report, VCY America has requested program test authority for W260DL/99.9 (Oshkosh). The 155-Watt translator relays VCY’s Christian network from WVCY/690 (Oshkosh).

In North Dakota, KNDK Inc. submitted a filing indicating that K254DC/98.7 (Langdon) is operating pursuant to program test authority. The 250-Watt translator relays KNDK/1080, which carries a News/Talk format.

And in Iowa, Trending Media’s KFJB/1230 (Marshalltown) is in the process of signing on 250-Watt K230CB/93.9 (Marshalltown). The station, which carries a Full Service News/Talk format, says it is still tweaking the FM signal and hopes to have it fully operational within a month.
