North Dakota TV Station Owner Buys Low-Power TV Permits

Posted on April 1, 2021 by Jon Ellis

A company that owns a full-power TV station in the Fargo market is buying the construction permits for four low-power TV stations in North Dakota.

An asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC indicates that Ravi Kapur’s Major Market Broadcasting is buying the four permits from DTV America and HC2 Broadcasting for $7,500 each. They are K22OG-D (Fargo), K25LY-D (Fargo), K23MB-D (Minot), and K27LX-D (Minot).

The stations’ construction permits all expire in July, and all have sought extensions until January. The deal will only go forward if the extensions are approved, and Major Market has the right to seek facility modifications for the stations before the sale closes.

The deal also includes two permits in Georgia and Indiana that are valued at $35,000 each.

Major Market Broadcasting owns KRDK/4.1 (Valley City-Fargo), which carries a dozen channels including Cozi TV and BEK Sports.
