24-Hour Sports Comes to Winona FM Dial

Posted on August 25, 2021 by Jon Ellis

Leighton Enterprises has brought an FM Sports format to Winona, dropping a longtime Country format.

The former “99.3 The Hawk” (KHWK-FM Rushford) is now KWMN, the “Winona Sports Network.” The station’s website shows a lineup of FOX Sports Radio and play-by-play sports including local high school football and Minnesota Gopher football.

KWMN is one of five radio stations owned by Leighton in Winona. The group also includes “Real Country” outlet KHWK/1380 and K268DJ/101.5.

Winona is under the umbrella of the La Crosse market, receiving one AM Sports format and several FM Country formats from that city.

99.3, originally KWNO-FM, had carried Country formats for several decades under monikers including “CD Country,” “K-Dub Country,” and “Wild Country” before changing to “The Hawk” in 2019.
