A year after changing frequency to get away from interference, a low-power FM station in the northern Wisconsin community of Ashland is seeking another frequency change for the same reason.
Holy Family Radio Association’s WWMD-LP/95.3 is now proposing to move to 94.3, citing interference from WFNX/95.3 (Grand Marais, MN).
WFNX had already been using the frequency for more than 20 years when WWMD-LP moved from 95.5 last year to escape interference from WIFC/95.5 (Wausau). The change prevented reception of WFNX in the immediate Ashland area and limited WWMD’s reach.
WWMD also moved its transmitter from a site east of Ashland to a more central location last year. It would remain at that site on 94.3, continuing to use 100 Watts.
There are no other stations in the region on 94.3.
WWMD carries Catholic programming from Relevant Radio and EWTN Radio.
