Iowa
Greg Wennes completed his exit from Wennes Communications Stations on Jan. 4, with an FCC filing indicating that the company is now known as LA Communications. The group includes KNEI-FM/103.5 (Waukon), KDHK/100.5 (Decorah), KVIK/104.7 (Decorah), KDEC/1240 (Decorah), KDEC translator K235CT/94.9 (Decorah), and KDHK-HD2 translator K256CS/99.1 (Waukon).
Beaver Broadcasting closed on its purchase of the Estherville radio stations from Jacobsen Broadcasting on Dec. 31. The stations include KILR-FM/95.9, KILR/1070, and KILR translator K247CJ/97.3.
Saga Communications informed the FCC that it has completed the move of K255CY/98.9 (Spirit Lake) to 98.5 as K253CV. The translator was last known to carry “Chuck FM” from the HD3 signal of KMRR/104.9 (Spencer); the station’s website still lists 98.9.
Grace Baptist Church amended its application for a new FM station in Glidden to specify 91.9 rather than 88.7, potentially removing it from competition with other applicants. The proposed 91.9 facility would use 600W/30m (class A).
Edge Spectrum requested tolling of the construction deadlines for K22LJ-D (Mason City), K27MI-D (Mason City), K35PA-D (Mason City), and K31PP-D (Sioux City), giving the same explanations as other Edge requests reported here in recent weeks. The permits, first issued a decade ago, are due to expire Jan. 10.
Michigan
FideliTV was granted a modification for the construction permit for future low-power TV station W16EF-D (Marquette) to downgrade to 250 Watts and requested tolling of the construction deadline, which is currently Jan. 10. FideliTV submitted the same narrative as recent Edge Spectrum filings, indicating it is working with ARK Multicasting to build ATSC 3.0 stations.
Minnesota
Gray TV told the FCC that new low-power TV stations K23MQ-D (Duluth), K29OE-D (Racine), K30RA-D (Racine), and K33MW-D (Sherburn) have been constructed as authorized. K23MQ-D transmits with 2.5kW from Gray’s KBJR/KDLH tower in Duluth’s antenna farm. K29OE-D and K30RA-D transmit with 1.55kW from a tower south of Rochester with a directional antenna pointed towards Rochester, where Gray owns KTTC and operates KXLT. A reader reported receiving K29OE-D relaying KTTC. K33MW-D transmits with 860 Watts from Gray’s KEYC tower near Lewisville with a directional antenna pointed southwest. Programming on stations besides K29OE-D is unknown.
Gray TV is buying the construction permit for new low-power TV station K30QY-D (Oakland), which is in the Rochester market, from Lowcountry 34 Media as part of a 24-station deal that totals $3.75 million. All of the other stations are outside of the Upper Midwest. K30QY-D faces a Jan. 10 construction deadline and the station has sought tolling of the deadline. The agreement states that Gray has the right to terminate the deal if any of the permits involved in the deal expires.
SagamoreHill of Minneapolis told the FCC that new low-power TV station K35PC-D (Rochester) has been constructed as authorized. The construction permit calls for 8.7kW from the tower used by SagamoreHill’s KXLT near Grand Meadow. Programming is unknown.
Edge Spectrum requested tolling of the Jan. 10 construction deadlines for future low-power TV stations K19MS-D (Alexandria), K29NY-D (Alexandria), W22FD-D (Dodge Center), K20OP-D (Duluth), K21KZ-D (Duluth), K28QJ-D (Duluth), K31LN-D (Rochester), and K15IS-D (Willmar). The filings give the same explanations as other Edge requests reported here in recent weeks. EICB-TV East’s K14QM-D (Duluth) and FideliTV’s K20KW-D (St. Cloud) also requested tolling using the same text as the Edge stations. K20KW-D was also granted a downgrade to 200W.
The FCC granted Edge Spectrum’s K43JE-D (Lake Crystal) a move to channel 25 as K25QC-D with 7.5kW, reaching Mankato.
The FCC formally cancelled the construction permit for K41MP-D (Rochester), which had specified operation on a channel that has been discontinued. The station did not apply to relocate to another channel.
Nebraska
The transfer of control of KNZA, Inc., was completed on Dec. 29, giving Justin Fluke 100% of the shares in the company. It owns Falls City-licensed KLZA/101.3, KTNC/1230, and KTNC translator K296HK/107.1, as well as three FM stations in Kansas.
Edge Spectrum requested tolling of the construction deadlines for K16NO-D (Beatrice/Fairbury), K14SY-D (Columbus), and K36MO-D (Lincoln), giving the same explanations as other Edge requests reported here in recent weeks. The permits, first issued a decade ago, are due to expire Jan. 10.
North Dakota
Gray TV told the FCC that new low-power TV station K35PO-D (Bismarck) has been constructed as authorized in the permit, which calls for 15kW from Gray’s KFYR-TV tower south of Bismarck. Programming is unknown. K35PO had initially requested tolling of the Jan. 10 construction deadline but then withdrew the request, saying it was able to complete construction. Gray did request tolling of the Jan. 10 deadlines for K28QT-D (Dickinson), K18NW-D (Minot), and K20PB-D (Williston), saying that “severe weather combined with shipping delays related to the global supply chain disruptions has stalled construction.”
Edge Spectrum requested tolling of the construction deadlines for K34LO-D (Bismarck), K09AAC-D (Fargo), and K10RQ-D (Fargo), giving the same explanations as other Edge requests reported here in recent weeks. FideliTV made the same requests with similar explanations for K14PP-D (Fargo), K17LT-D (Fargo), K18NP-D (Fargo), K32KX-D (Fargo), and K33ML-D (Fargo). The permits, first issued a decade ago, are due to expire Jan. 10.
South Dakota
Gray TV informed the FCC that new low-power TV stations K15MY-D (Caputa), K22OV-D (Caputa), K29OF-D (Deadwood), and K31QA-D (Deadwood) have been constructed as authorized. K15MY-D and K22OV-D are authorized to transmit from Gray’s KOTA-TV tower in Rapid City with 15kW and 1kW, respectively. K29OF-D and K31QA-D are authorized to transmit from KQME’s tower on Terry Peak. Programming is unknown.
J.F. Broadcasting informed the FCC that KAUN-LD/25 (Sioux Falls) and KCWS-LD/27 (Sioux Falls) have returned to the air on their new channels. The stations had formerly transmitted on higher channels that have been discontinued. Each is authorized to broadcast with 720 Watts. Filings indicate both KAUN-LD and KCWS-LD are relaying sister station KWSD, which carries YTA TV.
Innovative Media Technologies informed the FCC that new low-power TV station K06QJ-D (Sioux Falls) has been constructed as authorized. It’s authorized to transmit from the KSFY-TV tower near Rowena with 100 Watts. Programming is unknown.

Wisconsin
Call Communications modified its application for a new non-commercial FM stations in Ixonia, now specifying 89.1 instead of 91.5 to remove itself from competition with conflicting applications. The proposed 89.1 facility would use 7.5kW/40m (class B1) covering Oconomowoc and Watertown.
The FCC formally cancelled the construction permits for W45DM-D (La Crosse), W46EP-D (La Crosse), and W46EQ-D (Augusta), which had specified operation on channels that have been discontinued. The stations did not apply to relocate to other channels.

Baraboo Broadcasting Corporation requested tolling of the construction deadlines for W22FK-D, W25FT-D, and W36FN-D, which would be licensed to Baraboo but actually transmit from near Tomah. The company says it had negotiated a lease for a tower but was informed by the tower owner in October that the tower would not be available before the Jan. 10 deadline because of corrosion issues that need to be fixed. Filings say the company has located a new site and will apply to modify the permits if tolling is approved.
