FOX plans to add its 24-hour FOX Weather service on digital subchannels in all of its markets with owned-and-operated stations, which include Minneapolis and Milwaukee.
Exact channel placements were not announced in FOX’s news release about the move. The O&O stations include KMSP/WFTC (Minneapolis) and WITI (Milwaukee).
Additionally, WFTC (FOX 9+) will simulcast FOX Weather for one hour each weekday and two hours on weekends. The specific timeslots were not announced.
FOX Weather launched last fall as a free ad-supported streaming channel.
The addition of the network on digital subchannels is somewhat of a return to the early days of digital broadcasting, when NBC Weather Plus and other weather services were the most common offerings.
