Gray TV NBC affiliate KSNB-TV/4.1 has completed a move of its transmitter closer to Lincoln, a change which also included a move from VHF to UHF.
KSNB-TV previously transmitted on RF channel 4 from a tower near York. It’s now transmitting on RF channel 24 with 260kW from the reconstructed KOLN-TV/10 tower near Beaver Crossing. The construction permit also calls for the station to change its community of license from Superior to York.
The station, branded as “Local 4,” originates newscasts from Hastings. It took over the NBC affiliation from the former KHAS-TV/5 (Hastings) in 2014.
KSNB-TV’s new facility delivers a strong signal to Lincoln, as well as Columbus and Beatrice. The move marks the first time that a primary, in-market NBC affiliate has delivered a strong signal to Nebraska’s capital city.
It’s one of five stations Gray TV operates in the sprawling Lincoln-Tri Cities market, with KSNB-TV, KOLN-TV, and KCWH-LP/18 serving Lincoln and KGIN/11 and KNHL/5 serving the Tri Cities.
According to their websites:
- CBS is on KOLN/10.1, KGIN/11.1, and KCWH/18.3
- NBC is on KSNB/4.1 and KGIN/11.2
- CW is on KNHL/5.1 and KCWH/18.1
- MeTV/MyNetworkTV is on KSNB/4.2, KOLN/10.3, and KGIN/11.3
- ION is on KSNB/4.3 and KNHL/5.4
- KOLN and KGIN also carry H&I on DT4, Circle on DT5, and TrueCrime on DT6
An article on KSNB-TV’s website suggests channel lineup changes may happen on April 6.
Gray TV’s Lincoln-Tri Cities stations compete with Sinclair Broadcast Group’s marketwide FOX affiliate KFXL and Tri Cities ABC affiliate KHGI, as well as Standard Media Group Lincoln ABC affiliate KLKN.
