Weekly Log: New TV GM’s in Nebraska, Several Wis. Radio Moves

Scripps announced that it has hired Lisa Volenec as general manager of CBS affiliate KMTV/3.1 (Omaha). Volenec previously worked in Omaha as an anchor at FOX affiliate KPTM before moving to Scripps’ station in Phoenix, where she worked as a reporter before moving into sales. She currently serves as a regional business development director for Scripps’ Local Media division. Volenec will begin Aug. 22.

Sinclair Broadcast Group has promoted Joni Tippen general manager of ABC affiliate KHGI/13.1 (Kearney) and KFXL/51.1 (Lincoln). She has been with the stations for 25 years and was previously general sales manager.

Hearst ABC affiliate WISN/12 (Milwaukee) announced that Cyreia Sandlin has been hired as weekend evening anchor beginning July 25. She will also report during the week.

The NBC Nightly News reported on Boyd Huppert’s return to reporting at Tegna NBC affiliate KARE 11 (Minneapolis) after undergoing cancer treatment.

RadioInsight reported that Brett Andrews has been promoted to iHeartMedia’s senior vice president of programming for Milwaukee and Madison.

Radio Milwaukee (WYMS/88.9) announced that Erin Wolf has been named music director. Wolf previously worked at WMSE/91.7 (Milwaukee) for 17 years.

Jane Matenaer has exited “Wisconsin’s Morning News” at WTMJ/620 (Milwaukee).

Country Insider reported that Brandon Marshall has departed KQYB/98.3 (Spring Grove-La Crosse) and is now working as a digital producer at Hubbard ABC affiliate KAAL/6.1 (Austin-Rochester).

The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association noted that Sean Maloney has joined WCLO/1230 (Janesville) as a news reporter.
