First Nations Experience Gets Statewide Coverage in Nebraska

Posted on August 17, 2022 by Jon Ellis

Nebraska Public Media has added First Nations Experience (FNX) to its TV transmitters, giving the network statewide coverage.

The network’s nine full-power stations and 15 translators are now carrying FNX on their DT5 channels. The organization says in a news release that technical upgrades allowed it to add the fifth channel, and that some cable systems may add the service as well.

A viewer reports that the network’s DT1 and DT2 channels are in HD while DT3, DT4, and DT5 are in SD. The DT3 and DT5 channels also carry Nebraska Public Media Radio and Radio Talking Book Service as alternate audio programs.

FNX is the only national broadcast network that fills its schedule with Native American and World Indigenous content, including documentaries, dramas, nature, cooking, gardening, children’s and arts programming. The lineup includes the Indian Country Today newscast three times each weekday as well as Native Report, produced at WDSE (Duluth).

Regionally, FNX is also carried by Lakeland Public Television’s stations in north-central Minnesota.
