Keith Edwards, longtime Eau Claire journalist and current evening anchor at ABC affiliate WQOW/18 (Eau Claire), told viewers that he is battling lymphoma and is beginning chemotherapy. Edwards said he has great support from his family, friends, and co-workers, including notes and a basket of chemo recovery items.
Hearst ABC affiliate WISN-TV/12 announced that Mallory Anderson will be joining the station as morning live desk anchor.
The Nebraska Broadcasters Association noted the passing of Jerry Dishong, who did just about every job at KDUH-TV/4 (Scottsbluff) during a half-century career there. He was inaugurated in to the group’s Hall of Fame in 2016.
Rick Gevers’ newsletter reported that Keith Bliven has been promoted from news director to director of operations at Gray NBC affiliate KTIV/4 (Sioux City).
Josh Chilson has joined South Dakota Public Broadcasting as news director, based out of Sioux Falls.
RadioInsight reported that Andy Riggs announced his departure from Audacy’s “103.7 KISS-FM” (WXSS Wauwatosa-Milwaukee).
Stations
Twin Cities PBS recently announced that it will reduce the amount of children’s programming on TPT2 (KTCA/2.1) beginning Jan. 2, 2023. PBS Kids shows will continue to air from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. on TPT2, but the hours from 1 to 5 p.m. will instead be filled with drama and travel programming followed by “BBC News America” at 5:00 and “DW the Day” at 5:30. Some of TPT2’s new afternoon lineup will move over from TPT Life (KTCI/2.3), making way for more “how-to” programming on TPT Life. TPT encouraged viewers to tune to its PBS Kids subchannel (2.4) for 24-hour children’s programming, though the channel is not available on satellite.
TCT’s KTTW (Sioux Falls) has begun carrying Twist on channel 7.11.
Gray TV’s WEAU (Eau Claire) has added Defy TV on channel 13.5.
BDP Communications’ 93.7 “The Ticket” (KNTK Firth-Lincoln) announced that it will move to a downtown studio at 1040 O Street in the spring. The new facility is expected to include a street-level studio, a coffee shop, and retail and event space for advertisers. The new location is about three miles away from the present facility at 330 North 48th Street.
Just outside of the Upper Midwest, the Chicago Bears announced that they are moving to Good Karma’s “ESPN 1000” (WMVP Chicago) next season. RadioInsight noted that WMVP will actually be the fifth flagship in the team’s history.
