Longtime Minnesota and South Dakota broadcaster Don Egert has died at the age of 89. Egert’s 70-year career included more than 40 years as owner of KDIO/1350 (Ortonville) and more than 40 years as the voice of Pioneer Public Television. He was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2021. His obituary says a private memorial will be held in Hawaii, with a public celebration on the radio.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that DZ has joined Alley Faith on the morning shift at Audacy’s “103.7 Kiss FM” (WXSS Wauwatosa-Milwaukee).
Minnesota Public Radio’s “The Current” announced the hiring of Kendall Stewart as its assistant program director.
MPR also announced the election of Bo Thao-Urabe to its board of directors.
Twin Cities PBS (KTCA/KTCI) named Stacie Reiner its new chief financial officer.
Photographer Peter Browne is retiring from FOX 9 (KMSP Minneapolis) after 34 years with the station.

Storm Lake Radio, which is part of Community First Broadcasting, announced that Laura Hanks has been promoted to manager of the three-station group in northwestern Iowa. Former longtime GM Buzz Paterson is staying on a part-time basis.
Ken Mills announced that Brian Bull has been named lead interviewer and consultant for The Public Radio Oral History Project. Bull’s resume includes time in South Dakota and Wisconsin, and he’s now at a station in Oregon.
