Viewers in many Upper Midwest markets have seen changes to their digital TV lineups due to two unrelated national changes on Monday, March 27.
As previously noted here in Weekly Log reports, Scripps-owned TrueReal went off the air nationally while Weigel’s Decades changed its name to Catchy Comedy with a revamped lineup.
Some stations switched their TrueReal channels to different programming before the network left the air, while others waited until March 27 to make the switch. Here’s how the change has played out in regional markets, according to network listings and station announcements:
Cedar Rapids: Scripps’ KPXR-TV moved Scripps News from 48.7 to 48.6, replacing TrueReal, and launched Jewelry TV on 48.7.
Des Moines: Scripps’ KFPX-TV (Newton) moved Scripps News from 39.7 to 39.6, replacing TrueReal, and launched Jewelry TV on 39.7.
Duluth: Hubbard’s WDIO/10.5 (Duluth) and WIRT/13.5 (Hibbing) replaced TrueReal with Grit. Grit also continues to air on channel 27.3 of TCT’s KCWV.
Eau Claire: Catchy Comedy is seen on Allen Media’s WQOW/18.2.
Fargo: Forum’s WDAY-TV/6.6 (Fargo) and WDAZ/8.6 (Devils Lake-Grand Forks) replaced TrueReal with Grit.
Green Bay: Scripps’ WACY-TV (Appleton) moved Scripps News from 32.6 to 32.5, replacing TrueReal, and launched Jewelry TV on 32.6. Catchy Comedy airs on Gray’s WBAY-TV/2.6.
La Crosse: Catchy Comedy is seen on Allen Media’s WXOW/19.2.
Lincoln: Standard Media’s KLKN/8.6 replaced TrueReal with Bounce.
Madison: Byrne Acquisition Group’s WIFS/57.7 (Janesville) replaced TrueReal with Scripps News, after briefly carrying Jewelry TV. Catchy Comedy airs on Allen Media’s WKOW/27.2.
Milwaukee: Scripps’ WPXE-TV (Kenosha) moved Scripps News from 55.7 to 55.6, replacing TrueReal, and launched Jewelry TV on 55.7. Catchy Comedy airs on Weigel’s WMLW-TV/49.4 (Racine).
Minneapolis: Hubbard’s KSTP-TV/5.5 (St. Paul) replaced TrueReal with Defy. Defy was formerly seen on Scripps’ KPXM/41.6; Scripps News moved up one slot to 41.6 and Jewelry TV launched on 41.7. Catchy Comedy airs on FOX’s KMSP/9.6.
Omaha: Hearst’s KETV/7.4 replaced TrueReal with Defy.
Rapid City: Catchy Comedy airs on KHME/23.4 (Rapid City) and KQME/5.4 (Lead).
Rochester: Hubbard’s KAAL/6.5 (Austin) replaced TrueReal with Bounce.
Sioux Falls: TCT’s KTTW/7.8 (Sioux Falls) and KTTM (Huron) put up a slate saying TrueReal has discontinued programming.
Wausau: Catchy Comedy airs on Allen Media’s WAOW/9.3 (Wausau) and WMOW/4.3 (Crandon).
In case you missed it, Scripps News is the network formerly known as Newsy, which changed its name at the beginning of the year.
