The following are updates to previously-reportedĀ itemsĀ and other recent regulatory filings and actions concerning Upper Midwest broadcast stations. This report is created by the author and is not an official report of the FCC.
Iowa
The Iowa Public Broadcasting Board amended its request to move KDIN/11.1 (Des Moines) to a UHF frequency to address an allotment that would be displaced. KDIN has proposed moving to UHF channel 34, which is allotted to Ames; IPB has now proposed that the vacant Ames allotment be moved to channel 21 and channel 34 be substituted for channel 11 at Des Moines.
Minnesota
We Have This Hope Christian Radio was granted the callsigns WDJD for its future station on 89.9 in Aitkin and KSWJ for its future station on 90.9 in Alexandria.
Gray TV’s K29OE-D (Racine) submitted a license to cover application indicating that it has completed its move from a site south of Rochester to the KTTC(TV) studio facility on the north side of the city, using 1kW.
North Dakota
Radio Wahpeton-Breckenridge’s KEGK/106.9 (Wahpeton) notified the FCC that it has activated an HD Radio signal.
Nebraska
Flood Communications West closed on its purchase of KSDZ/95.5 (Gordon) and KDJL/99.5 (Kilgore-Valentine) from DJ Broadcasting on July 31.
The Praise Network requested program test authority for new station KGRU/89.5 (Burwell), which will use 1kW/61m. The network has been heard in Burwell on K205CU/88.9, which has a construction permit to move to 99.7 and relay KRVN/880 (Lexington) after a sale to the Nebraska Rural Radio Association is closed.
MyBridge Radio applied to modify the facilities for future station KNPE/88.5 (North Platte) to specify 100kW vertical only at 98m. The original construction permit specifies 100kW vertical and 700 Watts horizontal at 128m.
The Nebraska Rural Radio Association’s KNEB/960 (Scottsbluff) requested special temporary authority to operate at 25 percent of its usual power in non-directional mode while work is conducted to add KOLT/690 (Terrytown-Scottsbluff) to the KNEB site. KNEB normally uses 5kW day and 350 Watts night.
CSN International requested special temporary authority for K212EJ/90.3 (Scottsbluff) to remain off the air while it works to move to a new frequency. It was displaced by new Bible Broadcasting Network station KYBF/90.1 (Scottsbluff) and is awaiting FCC approval to move to 91.9.
South Central Oklahoma Christian Broadcasting’s KNEF/90.1 (Franklin) has gone off the air after “the lease was terminated,” according to a request for special temporary authority to remain silent. The owner is in the process of donating KNEF to CSN International; the filing states CSN will return the station to the air from a different site.
Wisconsin
Cumulus Media’s WNAM/1280 (Neenah-Menasha) is currently stuck in its nighttime directional pattern and is unable to switch to its less-restrictive daytime pattern, according to a reduced power notification. The filing says engineers are hopeful that the problem will be resolved in a few weeks but the station will request special temporary authority if the problem cannot be resolved by August 24.
Family Life Broadcasting’s WJTY/88.1 (Lancaster) is operating at reduced power of 2.799kW due to a failing transmitter tube. WJTL normally transmits with 49kW vertical and 7kW horizontal.
