Sale of Warroad/Roseau Radio Stations Withdrawn

Posted on November 27, 2023 by Jon Ellis

Border Broadcasting has withdrawn an application to transfer voting interests in the company, which owns three radio signals in the area where Minnesota, Manitoba, and Ontario meet.

The company owns Country-formatted KKWQ/92.5 (Warroad), Classic Rocker KRWB/1410 (Roseau), and KRWB translator K275BB/102.9 (Roseau),

Currently, Michael and Phyllis Pederson’s Pederson Broadcasting holds 100% of the voting interests and 30% of the non-voting interests in Border Broadcasting, with the other 70% of the non-voting interests held by the Marvin Principals.

The company had filed an application on August 14, 2023, for Pederson to transfer voting interests to Dan DeMolee for $6,500 and non-voting interests to Marvin in two separate transactions totaling $90,000.

However, the application was withdrawn on Nov. 27, with Border stating the parties “have determined not to pursue this transaction.”

KRWB and KKWQ, which has a 100kW signal covering the U.S. side of Lake of the Woods, are among the few commercial signals in the remote region where agriculture meets wilderness. They primarily compete with North Country Media’s “Wild 102” (KCAJ-FM/102.1 Roseau).

This item was originally posted August 17 and updated November 27 to reflect that the application had been withdrawn.
