Hearst ABC affiliate WISN-TV/12.1 (Milwaukee) announced that Mallory Anderson has been promoted to morning co-anchor. The station also announced that Gerron Jordan will add 11 a.m. anchoring duties while continuing as morning co-anchor.
Gray ABC affiliate WBAY-TV/2.1 (Green Bay) reported that morning anchor Sarah Thomsen, who is continuing to recover from a severe concussion suffered in a 2022 car crash, will not be returning to the anchor chair.
The Scottsbluff Star Herald reports that Gray TV’s KNEP/4.2 (Sidney-Scottsbluff) is no longer airing Scottsbluff-based newscasts, with the market’s general manager telling the paper that the four affected journalists are being offered other opportunities. The change follows Gray TV’s announcement that it is trading its Cheyenne-Scottsbluff and Casper stations to Marquee Broadcasting. KNEP had been a semi-satellite of Gray’s KNOP (North Platte), which is not included in the transaction.
Gray TV has hired Vanessa Kjeldsen as its first Wisconsin capitol bureau reporter to provide legislative coverage to Gray’s stations in Madison, Green Bay, Wausau, Eau Claire, and Duluth-Superior. In recent years the company has added capitol reporters in several states, including Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota.
Dave Busiek on Media profiled a recent push by Nexstar NBC affiliate WHO-DT/13.1 (Des Moines) to bring journalists who are veterans of other stations in the market into its newsroom on a part-time basis.
Dan “Huggie” Amsden and Natalie Jansen have taken over the morning shift at WIXX/101.1 (Green Bay).
YEA Networks announced that the syndicated Greg Beharrell Show is now airing on “X107.5” (KZIA-HD4/K298BM Cedar Rapids) and “Rock 95” (KMKO-FM/95.7 Lake Crystal-Mankato).
Tegna announced that ten Milwaukee Bucks games will air on WQAD/8.3 (Moline-Quad Cities) in partnership with Weigel Broadcasting, which is airing the games in Milwaukee (as reported here last week).
Spectrum Cable announced that Tri-State Christian Television station KONC/7.1 (Alexandria) will be carried on channel 7 of its central Minnesota cable systems beginning Feb. 16, including Alexandria, Brainerd, St. Cloud, and Willmar. The notice says KONC, which signed on last summer, was initially carried on channel 20.
