Weekly Log: New KS95 Morning Co-Host Announced

Thomas Dernlan, known as Tom Craig in is longtime role as host at WOMT/1240 (Manitowoc), died in a car crash on March 19. The station notes that Dernlan, 66, began his broadcasting career in 1977 and served in a number of roles, most recently working a retirement job as Friday afternoon host.

RadioInsight has been tracking a series of job cuts at iHeartMedia, including the departures of Drake Webb (KDWB), Reggie Brown (WKKV), and Chelsey Steinhauer (WMAD-FM).

Wes McKane announced that he is joining the morning show at KS95 (KSTP-FM/94.5 St. Paul). He’ll replace Ryan Roos, who announced his departure in January and will host is final show on March 29.

Wisconsin Public Radio hired Katy Lang as its new Wausau regional manager. Lang grew up in the area and previously worked of development and community engagement for the Grand Theater in Wausau.

Chippewa Valley radio veteran Mike McKay has joined Civic Media’s WCFW/105.7 (Chippewa Falls-Eau Claire) to host mornings. Civic also announced that WCFW’s lineup includes Laura McKenna, Aaron Carreno, Jay Roberts, and Tony Lorino‘s syndicated “Throwback Nation Radio.”

Drew Best announced that he is joining Gray ABC affiliate WBAY-TV/2.1 (Green Bay) as a reporter.

Gray TV’s KSFY (Sioux Falls) has switched channel 13.5 from TheGrio to StartTV.
