Wisconsin’s Prayz Network has signed on a fifth station, with WEQR/100.9 (Tomahawk) extending its reach into the Northwoods.
WEQR transmits with 8.5kW/173m (class C3) from a tower between Tomahawk and Merrill.
The Sparta-based network also has existing stations in Sparta, La Crosse, Westby, and Augusta. It has construction permits for new stations in Crandon, Melrose, and Westfield, Wis., and Harmony, Minn.
The network’s parent organization, the Salvation Poem Foundation, won the Tomahawk station in a 2021 FCC auction with a $129,000 bid. It also win the Crandon station in that auction with a $58,000 bid.
The Harmony, Melrose, and Westfield permits were granted as a result of a 2021 filing window for new stations in the non-commercial portion of the band.
The Prayz Network’s weekday schedule consists mostly of Christian teaching and preaching programs, with five hours of Contemporary Christian music. The weekend schedule leans more towards music.
Regionally, Prayz Network’s coverage area overlaps with several other Christian broadcasters including the WRVM network, VCY America, The Family Radio Network, WWIB/103.7 (Hallie-Eau Claire) and its translator network, and a few “K-Love” signals.
