The following are updates to previously-reportedĀ itemsĀ and other recent regulatory filings and actions concerning Upper Midwest broadcast stations. This report is created by the author and is not an official report of the FCC.
Iowa
Divine Mercy Educational Radio Association’s K249EP/97.7 (Fort Madison) completed a frequency change to 94.3 as K232GF, with its transmitter remaining in West Point. The translator also withdrew an application to move its transmitter to Saint Paul, citing delays.
The FCC approved changes in the ownership interest in the companies that own KJAN/1220 (Atlantic), KDSN-FM/104.9 (Denison), KDSN/1530 (Denison), and KNOD/105.3 (Harlan).
The FCC granted Iowa PBS translator K19KX-D (Keokuk) a construction permit to move to channel 18 as K18NZ-D, ahead of a channel change by WGEM-TV (Quincy, IL) from RF channel 10 to 19. K19KX/K18NZ will slightly reduce power from 5.36kW to 4.2kW.
Michigan
VCY America’s WVCN/104.3 (Baraga) returned to the air on July 29.
Aurora Media’s WYKX/104.7 (Escanaba) was granted special temporary authority to transmit at an unspecified reduced power due to a transmitter issue. The filing states that the reduced power operation began July 20 and says that the manufacturer of the transmitter is no longer in business, so the station is working to find parts.
Minnesota
DTV America’s K28PQ-D (St. Cloud) was granted a construction permit to move its transmitter from Big Lake to the western Twin Cities suburb of Plymouth, using 15kW non-directional. It would transmit from the distinctive structure near I-494, owned by American Towers, that is also used by a competing LPTV station.
Future AddiEun Foundation low-power FM station KBOR-LP/94.1 (Plymouth), which was originally permitted to transmit from the same tower specified above, has applied to modify its construction permit to move to a water tower across the street. KBOR-LP would change facilities slightly from 39W/48m to 30W/54m.
The FCC granted DTV America’s KMBD-LD/20 (Minneapolis) a construction permit to upgrade from 3kW to 8kW.
Edge Spectrum submitted license to cover applications for K34QF-D (Vesta) and K21NU-D (Geneva), indicating the stations’ new facilities have been constructed as authorized, and the FCC granted the licenses to cover. The stations had been silent since their previous channels were discontinued due to the spectrum auction repack. K34QF-D serves the Marshall area while K21NU-D serves the Waseca area.
Adventures on the Air LLC closed on its purchase of KLQP/92.1 (Madison) from Lac Qui Parle Broadcasting on July 26.
The FCC approved R.R. Larson & Associates LLC’s purchase of KYMN/1080 (Northfield) from Northfield Broadcasting.
The FCC approved a modification to the Salvation Poem Foundation’s WEQH/88.3 (Harmony) to reduce power from 10kW/64m (class C3) to 2.2kW/91m (class A). It will transmit from a site near Burr Oak, Iowa, reaching Cresco and Decorah.
Nebraska
Sunrise Communications’ KZUM/89.3 (Lincoln) notified the FCC that it has discontinued HD Radio operations as of July 28.
Dvyne Soulz was granted the callsign KDPP-LP for its future low-power FM station on 97.3 in Lincoln.
North Dakota
Digital Syndicate Network’s KDKT/1410 (Beulah) notified the FCC that it returned to full daytime power of 1kW on July 27.
Wisconsin
VCY America closed on its purchase of W218CC/91.5 (Wausau) from Radio By Grace on July 30.
Faith Sound’s K220EP/91.9 (La Crescent, MN) submitted a license to cover application indicating that it has completed a frequency change to 92.5 which include a relocation of the transmitter site from La Crosse to West Salem. From the new site, the translator uses 20 Watts with the callsign W223DN and relays Magnum Media’s WKBH-FM/102.7 (Onalaska).
