VCY Signs On Two New FM Stations in Iowa

Posted on October 22, 2024October 23, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Milwaukee-based Christian broadcaster VCY America has signed on new FM stations in the Waterloo and Mason City areas.

KVPG/103.9 (Dunkerton) transmits with 14kW/65m (class C3) from Cedar Falls, delivering a strong signal to Waterloo.

KVPJ/94.7 (Rockford) transmits with 3.1kW/65m (class A) from a tower near Rudd, with fringe coverage of Mason City and Charles City.

VCY submitted license to cover applications on Oct. 21 and 22 indicating that both new stations are operating under program test authority. It obtained the construction permits in a 2021 auction with a $60,000 bid for the Dunkerton allotment and a $25,000 bid for the Rockford allotment.

The Rockford allotment was originally for 92.9 but was changed to 94.7, allowing KDAO-FM/99.5 (Eldora) to move to 92.9 so that VCY’s Des Moines-market station, KVDI/99.3 (Huxley), can move to 99.5 and improve its coverage of the capital city. The KVDI change has not yet been made.

The non-commercial network’s lineup includes Christian teaching and preaching, conservative political talk, and traditional Christian music.
