The Milwaukee Radio Alliance has split up the signals that had carried the “Fonz” Oldies format, with two FM signals now carrying a Country format while “Fonz” continues on AM.
“Froggy” is heard on W262CJ/100.3 (Milwaukee) and W297BY/107.3 (Franklin-Racine), with programming now originating on the HD3 signal of the group’s WLDB/93.3 (Milwaukee). The signals had been stunting with a Halloween format as “The Haunt” since late October.
Meanwhile, “Fonz” continues to air on WZTI/1290 (Greenfield-Milwaukee) and WLDB-HD2 without the “FM” that had previously been part of the slogan.
The Milwaukee Radio Alliance is the third group with a Country format in the market. “Froggy” competes with heritage iHeart Country outlet WMIL/106.1 (Waukesha-Milwaukee) and Magnum Media’s duo of “VTY Country” (WVTY/92.1 Racine-Milwaukee) and “92.5 Buzz Country” (WMBZ West Bend).
As Sean Ross noted on RadioInsight earlier this month, “Fonz” is in a three-way Oldies battle with Saga’s “Pure Oldies 106.9” (WRXS Brookfield) and Civic Media’s WRJN/1400 (Racine) and its two FM translators.
Besides “Fonz” and the “B93.3” Adult Contemporary format, the Milwaukee Radio Alliance also runs Alternative outlet WLUM/102.1 (Milwaukee).
