The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Hearst’s WISN-TV (Milwaukee) is ending its 9 p.m. newscast, which airs on its channel 12.2 True Crime Network subchannel. It competes with two other newscasts in the timeslot. The newscast is one of many 9 p.m. CT/10 p.m. ET newscasts that Hearst stations launched in the mid-2010s, many airing on subchannels without major network affiliations.
Anchor/reporter Tajma Hall has announced plans to depart Weigel CBS affiliate WDJT/58.1 (Milwaukee).
After stepping down from the anchor desk earlier this year, Jeff Alexander has announced plans to depart Gray ABC affiliate WBAY/2.1 (Green Bay) after 30 years with the station. Alexander had initially planned to continue his “Small Towns” series but writes that he decided it was time to move back home to the Pacific Northwest:
Rick Gevers’ weekly newsletter reports that Kevin King is leaving the news director’s office at Gray ABC/NBC/FOX affiliates KSFY/KDLT (Sioux Falls) to take the ND role at the company’s station in Wichita.
Nexstar announced that its “Coast-To-Coast Countdown To 2025” New Year’s Eve program will air on 69 stations this year, up from 14 last year. It will air from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Central time. Nexstar stations WLAX (La Crosse), KGCW (Burlington-Quad Cities), and KELO-DT2 (Sioux Falls) are among those that will carry the program.
Dave Anderson‘s “Holding On to History” series at KBJR/6.1 (Superior-Duluth) is walking viewers through the history of local TV weathercasting over the decades. So far, the series has featured reports on the 1950s and the 1960s.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported on an effort by WORT/89.9 (Madison) and WDRT/91.9 (Viroqua) to raise money for WART-LP/95.5 (Marshall, NC), which is recovering from Hurricane Helene.
