Two more national Christian networks have begun broadcasting in Des Moines, bringing the total number of Christian radio services in the capital city to 13.
Kansas-based Bott Radio Network began airing on KCVD/88.1, formerly KDPS, on Dec. 17. Bott’s Community Broadcasting purchased the station from the Des Moines Independent School District.
The Des Moines station is Bott’s sixth signal in Iowa.
“We’re excited to grow our reach across Iowa—now serving listeners from Sioux City to Keokuk, with Des Moines right in the middle,” said Rich Bott, Bott’s President and CEO, in a news release. “Our mission is to strengthen families and change lives through the power of God’s Word, and this new station allows us to share quality Christian programming with even more people.”
The debut of Bott Radio Network comes weeks after American Family Radio began airing on KJMC/89.3, which AFR parent American Family Association purchased from Minority Communications.
AFR also has five other stations in Iowa.
Both Bott Radio Network and AFR carry a mix of Christian teaching programs and Conservative Talk.
The Des Moines radio dial has several similar national networks including Family Radio (KDFR/91.3), VCY America (KVDI/99.3), CSN Radio (K215FN/90.9), Faith Radio (K264CD/100.7), and LifeTalk Radio (KPOG-LP/102.9). Locally-operated Christian teaching and preaching services include Hope 940 (KPSZ) and Iowa Catholic Radio (KIHS/105.5).
Several local and national Christian music services also serve Des Moines.
