A group that owns a Progressive Talk station in Chicago is buying a Twin Cities station carrying the same format.
According to an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC on March 5, Heartland Signal LLC’s AM 950 LLC is buying KTNF/950 (St. Louis Park-Minneapolis) from JR Broadcasting LLC for $250,000. JR Broadcasting is headed by Chad Larson.
100% of Heartland Signal is held by Future Now Action, a non-profit corporation headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Heartland Signal also owns WCPT/820 (Willow Springs-Chicago) and WSBC/1240 (Chicago). WCPT carries Progressive Talk while WSBC runs brokered programming.
KTNF’s local programming includes Matt McNeil from 3 to 5 p.m. and Native Roots Radio at 5 p.m. weekdays. Syndicated hosts include Santita Jackson, Stephanie Miller, and Thom Hartmann.
Progressive Talk programming has aired on KTNF for more than two decades and is the frequency’s longest-running format. KTNF transmits with 1kW from Eden Prairie, using different day and night directional patterns.
