KCLP/101.1 (Luverne), formerly KLQL, has flipped to “The Rock Farm” following its recent sale to Christensen Broadcasting LUV LLC.
Sioux Falls radio veteran Dan “Crash” Rahman kicked off the new Hard Rock format on March 16, replacing a decades-old “K101” Country format.
The switch extends a format that had previously aired on the HD2 signal of Christensen’s KJOE/106.1 (Slayton).
KCLP’s 100kW signal reaches Sioux Falls as well as Worthington and Pipestone. There are a few other Rock stations in Sioux Falls, but none with a strong signal in most of southwestern Minnesota.
Christensen closed on its purchase of KLQL and the former KQAD/800 (Luverne) on February 27 and also changed KQAD’s format to Contemporary Christian as KDWC.
The Christensen family also runs Country formats on KJOE/106.1 (Slayton) and KLOH/1050 (Luverne). KLQL’s Country format had also competed with stations from Worthington and Sioux Falls.
