Radio Online reports that Cumulus Media has cut several positions at WVBO/103.9 (Winneconne-Oshkosh-Appleton), affecting Max Fredrick, Steve McGrath, and Jay Philpott.
Al Schoch has retired after a long career in Twin Cities broadcast journalism. According to his LinkedIn profile, Schoch first came to Minnesota to work at St. Paul-based All News Channel in 1993. He later worked for Minnesota News Network from 1996 to 2010 and had been at WCCO/830 since 2014, with numerous other media roles over the years.
WCCO reported that longtime host Sue Zelickson has died at 91. According to her obituary, Zelickson hosted “Food for Thought” on the station for more than 40 years and wrote for Mpls/St. Paul Magazine and Minnesota Monthly.
Jason Parkin, meteorologist at Nexstar NBC affiliate WHO-DT/13 (Des Moines), has shared that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Meteorologist Tucker Antico has joined Tegna NBC affiliate KARE 11 (Minneapolis). The station says Antico most recently worked in Boston and has also worked in Eau Claire and Indianapolis.
News anchor Michelle Heron has moved from mornings to the noon show at Morgan Murphy Media CBS affiliate WISC-TV/3 (Madison).
News anchor Aveya Hannan has moved from mornings to evenings at Nexstar ABC affiliate KCAU/9 (Sioux City).
Station of the Year winners at the Nebraska Broadcasters Association’s Pinnacle Awards were Hearst’s KETV/7 (Omaha) and the Nebraska Rural Radio Association’s KNEB-FM/94.1 (Scottsbluff). Gold winners for Best Newscast were KETV and the NRRA’s KRVN/880 (Lexington).
