Weekly Log: Longtime Milwaukee Host Moving to Podcast

Posted on November 1, 2024November 1, 2024 by Jon Ellis

Longtime WISN/1130 (Milwaukee) talk host Mark Belling announced that he will end his daily show at the end of the year and transition to a podcast. Belling started at WISN in 1989 and says he will continue to host the podcast from the iHeart station’s studios.

It won’t be surprising if the Milwaukee Radio Alliance soon launches a new format on W262CJ/100.3 (Milwaukee) and W297BY/107.3 (Franklin-Racine). RadioInsight and others report the two translators split from their simulcast of “Fonz” Oldies with WZTI/1290 (Greenfield) last weekend and began stunting with Halloween music as “The Haunt” (which did not seem to have an online presence). The translators are now relaying the HD3 signal of WLDB/93.3; “Fonz” continues on 1290.

Chicago Sports Network (CHSN) has updated its affiliate list to specify that it will be carried on KDMI/19.3 (Des Moines), KWKB/20.5 (Iowa City-Cedar Rapids), and KMEG/14.5 (Sioux City). A Milwaukee affiliate is also expected.

Hannah Borchert has departed Gray CBS affiliate WSAW/7.1 (Wausau) for a new job at a Gray station in South Carolina.

Anchor Dave Griek is no longer with Sinclair ABC affiliate NTV (KHGI/13.1 Kearney) after 15 years with the station.

Dwight Mulder, longtime host at KDMA/1460 (Montevideo), has died at the age of 67. His obituary says Mulder started at KDMA in 1980 and worked there for 38 years.

KETV and KLKN report that Matt Kelly, a former sports anchor at both stations, has died of colon cancer. Kelly was 54.

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association also notes the passing of Steve Roth, a sports broadcaster whose work included time at NET, KLIN, and KWBE. Roth was 69.

Tabulation of the 2024 All-Christmas stations has begun, and your tips are welcome at jonellis@northpine.com. As of the morning of Friday, Nov. 1, there are six stations on the list.
