Native Communications has flipped CIUR-FM/104.7 (Winnipeg) from “Now Country” to “Ziibi 104.7,” featuring a broad range of rhythmic hits.
The new format launched on April 20 including Hip-Hop, R&B, Pop, Dance, and Indigenous music from the 1990s to today. It’s positioned as the station “where music and community flows.”
CIUR operates as a sister station to the larger NCI-FM network, which carries a Country format on a provincewide network of transmitters including CICY-FM/105.5 (Selkirk-Winnipeg).
The new format is CIUR’s fourth since launching in 2009. It initially focused on current Hip-Hop and R&B as “Streetz 104.7” until a move to “Rhythm 104.7,” which featured a playlist closer to the current format. It had flipped to “Now Country” in 2016.
While “Now Country” had been one of four Country stations in Winnipeg, “Ziibi” has no direct competition in the market.
