Four months after Townsquare Media began operating WWAX/92.1 (Hermantown-Duluth) through a time brokerage agreement, station owner Twin Ports Radio LLC has filed a formal application to transfer the station’s license to Townsquare.
The asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC lists the sale price as $370,000.
In February, Townsquare swapped the formats of WWAX and its WEBC/560 and W293CT/106.5, moving “Sasquatch” Classic Rock to WWAX and the “Fan” sports lineup to WEBC and W293CT.
The addition of WWAX gave Townsquare four full-power FM signals in the market, the same as competitor Midwest Communications. Midwest also operates three AM stations and two FM translators, while Townsquare has one AM station with an FM translator.
Twin Ports Radio has retained ownership of KJOQ/1490 and W265DO/100.9, which continue to carry a Sports format using SB Nation Radio. Twin Ports Radio is owned by Dan Hatfield, J David Linder, and Dwayne Megaw.
