A Madison FM signal and its AM originating station are being sold to the company that has been programming a Liberal Talk format on the stations for the past two years.
According to an asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC, New WTTN LLC will buy WTTN/1580 (Columbus) and W224EG/92.7 (Madison) for $363,921.12. New WTTN LLC is headed by Michael Crute and also has several members with minority interests.
Crute began programming WTTN on March 1, 2018, and added the FM translator signal in May 2019. The format is known as “Talk 92.7.”
Meanwhile, Crute’s New WRRD LLC is selling its stations in the Milwaukee market to Good Karma for $388,921.12. That deal includes WRRD/1510 (Waukesha) and W269DL/101.7 (Milwaukee), which Good Karma has been programming since Sept. 1.
Good Karma first announced its plans to buy WRRD/W269DL in September and plans to launch a Black Talk format on them. They are temporarily simulcasting ESPN Radio.
Both deals were filed Friday, but the WRRD sale did not appear publicly in the FCC database until Tuesday.
The WRRD sale only includes one of its three towers, and not its longtime transmitter building, since WRRD has received a construction permit to downgrade to 250 Watts using one tower. The land on which the transmitter building and other two towers sit is listed for sale.
