Minnesota Public Radio has announced plans to shuffle its midday lineup this fall, adding a state-focused news program hosted by one of the network’s best-known journalists.
Beginning Sept. 7, Cathy Wurzer will host a news magazine program in the noon hour. The new show will replace “MPR News Presents,” which is a series of documentaries, lectures, and specials.
Wurzer will continue to host “Morning Edition” on MPR, which airs until 9.
Meanwhile, current 11 a.m. hour host Angela Davis will move to the 9 a.m. hour, replacing Kerri Miller, who will host a weekly show at 11 a.m. Fridays focusing on books and ideas.
The network’s announcement did not say what would air in the 11 a.m. hour Mondays through Thursdays, but the Star Tribune reported that it would be filled with the second hour of the national program “1A,” which currently airs only in the 10 a.m. hour.
