The following are updates to previously-reported items and other recent FCC filings and actions:
Iowa
Coloff Media sought tolling of the deadline for KHAM/103.1 (Britt) to upgrade from 200 Watts to 10kW and also applied for a new construction permit to replace the permit that expired July 5. The tolling request explained that the project was first delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and was scheduled for June 20, but the company’s chief engineer was unavailable because his home burned down on June 19. The next available construction date with the tower company is July 18.
The FCC renewed the license of K239CR/95.7 (Indianola) after the station ended up in a unique situation of having its license first issued after it would’ve been due to file for renewal.
Manitoba
The CRTC granted extensions to the CBC for upgrades to CBWF-FM/90.9 and CKSB-4-FM/99.9 (Flin Flon). The new deadlines are Aug. 1, 2023. The changes will include CKSB-4-FM moving to 92.7.
Minnesota
Though it has not yet needed an FCC filing, Hubbard Radio’s KBLB/93.3 (Nisswa-Brainerd) and WJJY/106.7 (Brainerd) reported on their websites that they are operating at low power due to a lightning strike. Repairs are expected to take a few weeks. The damage apparently happened sometime prior to July 5.
The St. Cloud Area Somali Salvation Organization is transferring KZYS-LP/105.1 (St. Cloud) to Hayaan Inc. The filing says the future licensee has a mission “to advance the unique culture of the local Somali Community including music, literature, folk lore, etc.”
Word of God Fellowship/Daystar station WDMI-LD (Minneapolis) reported that it is back up to 15kW after installing a directional antenna needed on its new RF channel, 26. WDMI-LD had previously transmitted with 15kW non-directional on channel 31 until being displaced by the move of KARE from that channel. WDMI-LD had temporarily used 1kW non-directional on channel 26 while it waited for the installation of the directional antenna.
Gray TV reported that new low-power TV station K30QY-D (Oakland), which is permitted to transmit with 800 Watts from just over the Iowa border, has been constructed. Programming is unknown.
Edge Spectrum applied to downgrade future low-power TV station K15IS-D (Willmar) from 2kW to 100W. The station faces a Sept. 6 construction deadline.
My Central Valley requested tolling of the construction deadline for new low-power TV station KMYN-LD/32 (Duluth) until August 30. The permittee faces a July 11 deadline but says it has faced pandemic-related delays, including the shipment of its antenna. It made the same request for two LPTV permits in Wisconsin.
Nebraska
Duo Ministries’ KJFT-LP/107.9 (Lincoln) changed its callsign to KJTM-LP, matching its “TiM FM” branding. The station is relayed on K255CS/98.9 (Lincoln).
MyBridge Radio applied to modify the construction permit for new station KXNG/91.3 (Lexington) from 100kW/109m to 57kW/109m, remaining class C1.
North Dakota
Red River Broadcast’s KNRR/12.1 (Pembina) notified the FCC that it resumed operations on June 21. It had previously reported going off the air June 7 due to an undisclosed problem. KNRR relays FOX affiliate KVRR (Fargo) to an area along the North Dakota, Minnesota, and Manitoba borders.
Gray TV reported that new low-power TV station K18NW-D (Minot) has been constructed as authorized. Programming is unknown.
South Dakota
Community Broadcasting applied to modify the construction permit for new station KCVP/88.3 (Pierre) from 25kW/86m (class C3) to 30kW/129m (class C2).
Wisconsin
Roseland Broadcasting’s newly-acquired WPVS-LD/9 (Milwaukee) was granted an upgrade from 200W to 3kW.
HC2 Broadcasting’s W23BW-D (Madison) completed an upgrade from 11.81kW to 15kW.
My Central Valley requested tolling of the construction deadlines for new low-power TV stations WZEO-LD/26 (La Crosse) and WRJT-LD/34 (Wausau) until August 30. The permittee faces July 11 deadlines but says it has faced pandemic-related delays, including the shipment of its antenna. It made the same request for an LPTV permit in Minnesota.
