Several Southern Wisconsin Radio Stations Switch to Classic Rock

Magnum Media has launched a Classic Rock format on several southern Wisconsin signals.

“Rock 96.1 and 101.1” airs on W241BQ/96.1 (Watertown) and W266DX/101.1 (Fort Atkinson), the latter of which transmits from near Edgerton and reaches Janesville. W266DX is fed by WFAW/940 (Fort Atkinson) while W241BQ receives its programming from the HD2 signal of WSJY/107.3 (Fort Atkinson).

WFAW had previously carried an Oldies format, with W266DX launching late last year. W241BQ had relayed the Adult Contemporary format from the main channel of WSJY, which recently added the simulcast of WFAW on its HD2 channel.

The new “Rock 96.1 and 101.1” lineup includes the syndicated Woody Show in the morning. It also continues to run news briefs from Magnum Media and the Wisconsin Radio Network.

The 101.1 signal competes primarily with Big Radio’s “105.9 The Hog” (WWHG Evansville), while regional heritage Classic Rocker WIBA-FM/101.5 (Sauk City-Madison), owned by iHeartMedia, delivers a fringe signal to both Janesville and Watertown. Mid-West Family Active Rocker “94.1 JJO” (WJJO Watertown) delivers a strong signal to both areas.
