Aurora Media Adds Two More FM Signals to Escanaba Group

Posted on August 30, 2022 by Jon Ellis

Aurora Media has reached a deal to buy another full-power FM station as well as an FM translator in the Escanaba, MI, area.

Aurora is buying WRPP/92.7 (Manistique) and W254AG/98.7 (Escanaba) from Todd Stuart Noordyk and Great Lakes Radio. The purchase price is $200,000, according to an asset purchase agreement filed as part of the FCC application to transfer the licenses.

Great Lakes Radio retains ownership of WQXO/1400 (Munising) and its FM translator.

The buyer has already taken over operations of the stations through a time brokerage agreement, which gives WRPP the right to continue carrying WestwoodOne’s Real Classic Rock format as well as news updates from ABC and the Michigan Talk Network.

Aurora Media LLC is owned by Todd Mohr (82%) and Janine Gregorski-Mohr (18%). Its current stations include WYKX/104.7 (Escanaba), WDBC/680 (Escanaba), and translators W233CT/94.5 (Escanaba) and W280GB/103.9 (Escanaba).

The Aurora Media stations compete with Results Radio Network/AMC Partners Escanaba LLC’s group of five FM stations, one AM station, and one FM translator in the area.
