A new FM station has signed on in southwestern Nebraska reviving an old favorite of the FM dial, Easy Listening.
On Aug. 30, Theatre Organ Preservation of Nebraska submitted a license to cover application indicating that KEZL/89.7 (Culbertson) has been constructed as permitted. The station transmits with 6kW/102m (class C3) from a site near McCook.
The station’s website, which offers a livestream, says the original target date for signing on was Sept. 15. (The station withdrew an upgrade application mentioned on the website.)
Easy Listening was a dominant format on the FM dial decades ago but has dwindled to just a couple dozen outlets across the U.S. and Canada, according to Radio-Locator’s station listing.
