A southwestern Wisconsin radio station has made its anticipated change to a Liberal Talk format following its sale to Civic Media.
The format is now airing on 1kW WRCE/1450 (Richland Center) and its 160-Watt FM translator, W299CD/107.7. The AM station changed its callsign from WRCO on Sept. 15. It had formerly carried Soft Oldies.
The new lineup, positioned as “The RC, radio in the center,” includes Pat Kreitlow’s “Up North News,” Kristin Brey’s “As Goes Wisconsin,” and Mike Crute’s “Devil’s Advocates Radio.” News updates come from AP Radio News and Jane Matenaer, a longtime Milwaukee radio reporter who recently joined Civic Media.
Crute is the president of Civic Radio while Sage Weil is CEO and majority owner. The company has bought 14 stations in the past few months, most recently in northwestern Wisconsin, with several of the deals still awaiting formal FCC approval.
WRCO-FM/100.9 (Richland Center), which Civic also purchased, continues to carry a locally-focused Country format.
