Fewer Nov. 1 Christmas Flips This Year in Upper Midwest

Posted on November 1, 2022 by Jon Ellis

Marquette, Michigan, has already received 19.1 inches of snow this season, so it’s appropriate that the Upper Peninsula city is now home to two all-Christmas radio stations.

Just as they did last year, Marquette Radio Group’s “94.1 The Breeze” (WUPK) and mediaBrew Communications Marquette’s “106.1 The Sound” (W286BC/WFXD-HD4) both made the switch to the seasonal playlist on Nov. 1.

Elsewhere, Woodward’s “KZ104.3” (WKZG Seymour-Green Bay) and Paskvan Media’s “The Legends” (KPMI/1300 and W232DS/94.3 Bemidji) also both made the flip on Nov. 1, the same day as last year.

However, two stations that had flipped on Nov. 1, 2021 didn’t make the switch on the same date this year: Midwest’s KELO-FM/101.9 (Sioux Falls) and AMC Partners’ “94.3 The Breeze” (WZNL Norway-Iron Mountain, MI) were both sticking with their regular playlists as of Tuesday evening.

At least two other stations are promoting pending flips. iHeartMedia’s “Mix 96” (KMXG/96.1 Clinton-Quad Cities) will make the seasonal switch on Friday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m., and is promising that the first song won’t be by Mariah Carey. Meanwhile, QueenB Radio’s “Super Hits 106.1” (KIYX Sageville-Dubuque) has a countdown clock on its website indicating a Thanksgiving Day flip. Both are on the same weekday calendar schedule as last year.

Once again this year, despite your reporter’s fears for his sanity, the All-Christmas flips are being tracked right here. (You can also find the link in the top navigation menu). This is the 22nd year in a row that NorthPine has tracked All-Christmas stations, and previous years are linked at the bottom of this year’s list.
