Woodward Communications has added a third Rock format to its northeastern Wisconsin group of stations after a week stunting as “Weird Al Radio.”
“104.3 The Fuse,” positioned as “Wisconsin’s Alternative,” launched at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, on the former WKZG/104.3 (Seymour-Green Bay), which is now WFZZ. The playlist extends from the 1990s to today.
The station had dropped its decade-old “KZ104.3” branding on Dec. 27 after two months of Christmas music.
Woodward also runs Classic Rocker WAPL/105.7 (Appleton) and Hard Rocker “Razor 94.7” (WZOR Mishicot-Green Bay).
The region hasn’t had an Alternative format since 2017, when Cumulus dropped the format on WKRU/106.7 (Allouez-Green Bay) after a decade in the genre. WFZZ’s new Facebook page acknowledges that there have been other attempts at Alternative formats but vows to do things differently.
