The Nebraska Rural Radio Association is expanding again with the purchase of an FM station in the north-central part of the state.
An asset purchase agreement filed with the FCC on Jan. 17 indicates NRRA is paying $1.5 million to purchase “K-Bear 92.3” (KBRY Sargent-Broken Bow) from Mark Jensen’s Mid Nebraska Broadcasting. The station has carried a Country format since activating its 100kW signal in 2014.
Jensen’s MWB Broadcasting II retains a pair of stations in Ord. His MWB Broadcasting previously sold two stations in York to NRRA in 2015.
NRRA, a cooperative owned by Nebraska farmers and ranchers, owns 14 full-power stations in rural areas around the state.
KBRY’s signal mostly overlaps with NRRA flagship KRVN/880 (Lexington), with a small amount of overlap with KRVN-FM/93.1 (Lexington) in a rural area between the two communities.
